Lens Flare #59 - Best of Half of 2025
My Personal Photography Highlights From The Last Six Months
First Half Of The Year
The end of June marks the mid-point of the calendar year. This is an arbitrary checkpoint, but it serves as a reminder to go back through my Lightroom catalogue and look back at my photographic progress and pick some personal favorites.
At the beginning of the year, I was still involved in my “normal focal length” project, during which I used 40-50mm lenses almost exclusively. I then switched back to my familiar 35mm field of view, whilst also experimenting with wider focal lengths (20-24mm). I am still not sure which focal length to call my own.
One of my observations is that all the images I like best are really simple compositions. I did dabble with a lot of experimentation, but it seems like my simple stuff resonates most with my aesthetic preference.
I did shoot monochrome and color, so this top 14 (Substack email length limit) includes both, even though I usually try to stick to one or the other in publications.
So without further ado, here are my personal favorites from the first half of 2025.
I was equally in awe of the black and white photos as I was charmed by the delightful cat at the end. Lovely images, Stefan. Really like how they flow together despite many having tremendous distance from each other.
Love these. And that pano at the start is awesome. I’m sad I’m looking on my phone for that one….
