Five Frames from One Outing
Today, I want to share another set of images in the Five Frames series. As with previous editions, the idea is to force me to choose five frames from a single outing for publication, either because I consider them the top five, or a sequence that tells a particular story.
The Frames
The Backstory
The story of this shoot is straightforward: I had to wait for a train and made use of the 45 minutes of dead time at the station to do some street photography. I carry a camera almost everywhere, and in this case, I used a small body with a 28mm lens (equivalent) to shoot monochrome JPEG images. Whilst I always record RAW files as well, I am getting more and more into straight-out-of-camera JPEGs. I feel that the reduced dynamic range works in my favor by forcing me to make decisions, such as exposing for the shadows to show every detail or hiding clutter by crushing the shadows. It also reduces the, for me, annoying post-processing.
I like the „black and white JPGs only“-approach. The necessity of post processing the RAW files sometimes heightens the barrier of entry when the goal is to publish something…
Train station is definitively a good playground for photography! The light that day was awesome! You were lucky
